Well, y’all, it seems I may have spoken too soon. Chemo infusion #12 of 16 did not happen as scheduled this past week. Instead, I spent that day (as well as the next two) getting checked out for shortness of breath and tachycardia.
The urgent care I visited for 6 hours on Wednesday, the emergency room I spent 7 hours in on Thursday, and the cardiac urgent care I relaxed in for 3 hours on Friday — all stumped. Lots of blood was drawn, heart and lungs were scanned and x-rayed, an echocardiogram was done. The good news is that my heart is strong and healthy, my lungs look clear, and I don’t have the flu/COVID/RSV. The bad news is that they have no idea why I can’t seem to catch my breath so chemo is on hold until we find some answers.
I’m crossing my fingers that it’s some random virus that just needs to run its course. That seems the most harmless of the theories that have been given. So, for now, I just have to sit tight and look on the bright side – I’m getting a spring break along with my kiddos!
