Triple C

Somewhere along the way, the universe must have decided that cancer and chemotherapy weren’t enough so it threw another ‘C’ into the mix.

COVID. I’ve had it once before (in December 2022?). I remember it sucking then, too. I’ve had a cold for about two months now but I suddenly began to feel way worse this past Sunday/Monday. Deciding enough was enough, I contacted my oncologist’s office with some questions. After giving me the run around for about an hour, the nurse finally said they would prescribe me an antibiotic once I was tested for RSV and COVID. Rolling my eyes because I was certain it wasn’t either of those, I begrudgingly made my way to the closest urgent care. They wouldn’t test me for RSV (some weird insurance thing) but the doctor said I was positive for COVID so it didn’t really matter. I was pretty surprised. It’s also kind of ironic that I likely picked it up from the oncology office.

Needless to say, I was urged not to come to the office for my weekly bloodwork and chemo was cancelled for this week. This was not the delay I was expecting. So that’s another week tacked on to the end which should be at the end of April. Cross your fingers that we don’t creep on into May. But, if we do, so be it.

I’ve definitely been struggling a bit this week. I feel like hell, the kids have been whining and fighting, and cabin fever is starting to set it. I’ll manage, though. I apologize when I get grumpy, I look up ways to try and improve my parenting when I feel it’s lacking, and I do what I can to give myself a bit more grace. Reading has definitely been a good stress reliever.

If you’re in the Northeast like I am, hang in there y’all! I know it can be cold and dreary and miserable at times, but the tough times always end. The sunshine is coming.
