Cancer Who?

I cannot believe it is already October. I feel as though I blinked and the whole of September flew by in an instant. School, extracurriculars, work (albeit only a day here or there for me), and all sorts of fall activities really ate up the last two weeks.

I will say one thing… Being busy is a superb way to forget I’m sick. Some mornings I wake up and think angiosarco-what? I’m doing my best to let the daily things take over whilst not letting them get in the way of enjoying my family. It’s a hard balance but I’m getting better at maintaining it. The simple of change of saying “yes” more than we say “no” has been one of the easiest ways to do so.

I still have moments, whole days even, when reality slaps me in the face. A strange twinge, mystery bruises, an incredibly persistent headache – little reminders that my body is still fighting (and winning, in my opinion). Day 1 of cycle 4 was uneventful and my only noticeable symptom is fatigue. Day 8 was supposed to be tomorrow. You’re thinking about those pesky platelets, right? Well, ::gasp:: you’d be wrong! My platelets are fine; my white blood cells are the troublemakers now. They’re not dangerously low but I’m still moderately neutropenic. I’m hoping to get chemo before the week is out. Caleb and I head back to Houston next week so I can’t really afford to have a long delay.

Cross your fingers and your toes for me! And try swapping a couple no’s for yeses this week. You’ll be surprised at what a difference it can make!
