Yesterday, Caleb and I met with Dr. Ravi. We were both pretty nervous considering how contentious the last appointment felt to us. Thankfully, both the nurse and the doctor seemed unfazed by any tension Caleb and I may have felt in our previous communications.
The appointment went incredibly well. We had contacted Dr. Ravi ahead of the appointment to let him know that we had set up care with a local oncologist who would monitor me after infusion. Dr. Ravi agreed with our decision to continue treatment at MD Anderson and was happy with the local care we had set up. He concurred that the inpatient situation and changes Roswell would have made were adequate but less than ideal. We felt validated and extremely excited to be able to return home after only 8 days and not 16! I cried happy tears this time! The kids squealed with delight when we told them. My heart is happy and calm so hopefully that will help me through this cycle.
I will have to be extra careful around everyone while I’m at home following infusion, but I will get to see those smiling little faces and sleep in my own bed!
Right now, I am finishing up day 1 of cycle 3. I’m one step closer to the halfway mark. And one day closer to heading home. Thank you for all the support, prayers, and love!
