Today I woke up feeling like myself, which was quite the relief for both of us! We ventured to the hospital for some bloodwork to get a look at my counts. After a 3 hour wait for results, we found my platelets to be a bit higher than the last cycle but my hemoglobin is lower (never fully recovered). Still, both levels were high enough that they were not at all concerned that I would need a transfusion at this point.
But now we wait. We wait for the white blood cell counts to drop and the infection risk to increase. We wait for the red blood cell counts to drop and the weakness to increase.
All I can hope is that we avoid any sickness so that I can stay out of the hospital and maybe have a better chance of my levels recovering ever so slightly faster than last time.
I don’t think I’ll be heading home any sooner than I did last cycle. That’s a hard truth I have to accept. But, my kiddos are in good hands until I get there, so I just need to will my body to recover. There’s not much else I can do.
Wish me luck!
